For every user account, Windows 8 shows a generic silhouette to accompany the user name on the Start screen. However, you can change this picture to something that better expresses the real you. You can choose to use a snap taken by your webcam or a photo from your Pictures library. Alternatively you can use a piece of clip art or even a short video clip.
Step 1 Move your mouse cursor to the top right of the screen and, from the Charms menu, click Settings
Step 2 Click Change PC Settings at the bottom right of the screen.
Step 3 The PC Settings app opens full screen. Click Personalize, and then select the Account picture tab
Step 4 Click Camera if you want to use your computer’s webcam to take a picture or a video. Video clips are limited to just five seconds
Step 5 Alternatively, click Browse and choose an existing image from your Picture library or another folder
Step 6 To preview the results, you can press the Windows key on your keyboard to toggle between the PC Settings screen and the Start screen.
Don’t worry if the picture you choose is the wrong size. Windows 8 automatically resizes the image to the right dimensions for the account picture space on the Start screen.
