Restore the Windows 7 taskbar

Auto hide the Windows 7 taskbar

The Windows 7 taskbar is normally found at the bottom of the screen, but if you can’t see it, this may be because it’s been accidently resized smaller or that auto-hide is turned on. Auto-hide means the taskbar remains hidden until you move the cursor onto the taskbar border – wherever it is positioned.

To resize the taskbar
Step 1  Move your cursor to where the taskbar should be. When the taskbar is detected, the cursor will change shape to a double-ended arrow.

Step 2  Click and drag the taskbar border towards the middle of the desktop until it appears.

Step 3  Then right-click the taskbar and choose Lock the taskbar to ensure it can’t be hidden.

To turn off auto-hide
Step 1
Right-click the taskbar. In the pop-up menu, choose Properties.

Step 2  Untick the Auto-hide the taskbar tick box. Click OK.
