Rather than typing in a password, you can visually sign into your Windows 8 computer using a picture password. Here’s how:
This alternative method of logging onto your computer uses a sequence of three gestures – any combination of a tap, circle or straight line – that you create on a picture of your choice. The sequence is recorded and then each time you sign in, you replicate the same gestures to authenticate yourself as the user.
Designed to speed up signing into Windows 8 when using a tablet, desktop PC and laptop owners can also use picture passwords – simple click and drag with your mouse to create the gestures need for a picture password.
Step 1 Move your mouse cursor to the top right of the screen and, from the Charms menu, click Settings
Step 2 Click Change PC Settings at the bottom right of the screen.
Step 3 The PC Settings app opens full screen. Click Users and then click Create a picture password
Step 4 You must first verify your account password. Type in your password and click OK
Step 5 Click Choose picture
Step 6 Select the picture you want to use and the click Open
Step 7 On the How’s This Look screen, position the picture as required and then click Use this picture
Step 8 Use your finger or mouse to draw three gestures over the picture. Windows displays each one as you complete it
Step 9 Repeat the gestures to confirm
Step 10 Click Finish
